Another month, another Walmart Beauty Box! (Cost: free, just pay $5 shipping/handling. So it’s $5 haha)
The tl;dr – I really enjoyed this box, and I’m overall very impressed with this subscription. There seems to be a huge discrepancy in the quality of this subscription, possibly divided along the age lines. (Someone at My Subscription Addiction dubbed this The Old Crone Box vs The Good One!)
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara (full size value $8.50) – This promises to extend lashes over time due to a Grow-Lash Complex. Okay, whatever. This has a nice, stiff wand with wider bristles (I think they’re rubber/silicone?) It has “Micro-Fibres”, which help make lashes look fuller and longer. This wasn’t waterproof, but I didn’t notice a ton of flaking, clumping or smudging. Overall, this will work for me!
Essence Ultime Omega Repair & Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner (1.7 oz trial each) – This smells of hippies. I like it, but the sandalwood/patchouli smell definitely sticks with you. I didn’t smell it so much in the container–it actually smelled like putty to me–but in the shower, it was a little overwhelming. This shampoo makes my hair somehow felt crunchier but looked glossier. I’m not a fan of this, but I was really glad to get this size of sample.
Dove GoFresh Nutrium Moisture in Mandarin & Tiare Flower (1.8 oz trial) – This smells okay, slightly citrusy but mostly woodsy floral–I had a hard time figuring out the scent with the smell of the shampoo hanging around in the shower. This felt nice enough.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser (0.5 oz trial) – I loved the smell of this (white tea) but my face was super splotchy afterwards.
Lady Gaga Fame Perfume (1.2 mL trial) – I’m never excited to get perfume samples. I don’t wear it and I think they’re a throwaway item. This smelled nice enough, sort of a pleasant mix between an old lady perfume (hey! she’s a classy old lady!) and a unisex cologne. The draw of this perfume is supposed to be that the fluid is black and there’s no top note–all of the scents are supposed to mingle and bounce around. It’s hard to get either effect from a sample.
The extras: This also came with coupons for Ultime Hair Care products, Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless foundation, L’Oreal cosmetics. Additionally, there were coupons and foil packets for Maybelline, Garnier and Nivea. The Nivea packet was my surprise favourite item of the box! They call it In-Shower Body Lotion, which sounds like weird BS, but my skin has felt amazing for days after using it. Normally, I hate getting a bunch of foil packets and coupons in a box, but I feel like that’s exactly the point of the Walmart box.
