Makeup is in bloom, or something!
Another month, another Glam Bag from Ipsy! (referral link)
I was really excited by the theme and I think the bag itself is cute as pigs. It’s a really different print for them, which I really appreciate. I was disappointed that these products are physically just really, really small all together.
NYX Butter Lipstick in Hunk (full size: $6): I was super thrilled to see the most vibrant, exciting shade in my bag. Finally! The application is a bit sheer, so it doesn’t go on nearly as vibrant as the tube looks, and it’s more pinky. The lipstick has the taste and smell of a cheap lipstick, which I hate, but it does feel very buttery on my lips. Still, so happy with this. Good pick, ipsy.
Vintage by Jessica Liebskind Illuminating Face Highlighter in Crystal Pink (sample size?): This was an ipsy exclusive, so I can’t get a good handle on whether this is considered a sample size or not. They were selling this on their site for $26, possibly along with another product? At any rate, this goes on a bit like a very sheer eyeshadow–it’s too pink to make sense as a highlighter to me. The shine is a bright, sugar pink. Not for me.
Boo-Boo Cover-Up Concealer (sample size): They sent this to me in the medium shade. I am extremely fair. I can blend this out and the shade does okay on my dark circles, but I definitely have to cover-up the Cover-up. I have no idea why they sent this to me. The full size is about three times the size of the sample and $20, so I don’t think I’ll be buying.
Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion (sample size): This feels like a typical pore-minimizing primer, but has a bit of an herby, medicinal scent. It contains apple stem cells (haha), retinol and alpine (?) extract, among other things. It did a fine job of working as a primer and mattifyer, but the jury’s out on its anti-aging properties. The full size is $60 for 1.7oz, which I just can’t see.
Lashem 3 in 1 Eye Bright (sample size): First, let me start by saying that my .17 oz tube was nearly empty. I’m emailing ispycare about it as we speak. The tube included no instructions for use, so I just applied this around my eyes and crossed my fingers. It promises to lift, firm, brighten and rejuvenate tired eyes. I definitely felt a cooling sensation that perked me up a bit. It’s an okay product that retails $40 for 15mL, but it’s not for me.
