I am not a winter bird.

I live in Kentucky.  I’m used to January being on-and-off crappy, facing a couple spells of snow in February, then one big snow or ice storm in March.

This year?  Oh, gods, this year.  I don’t think I’ve seen the grass at all this month.  Last month plunged us into the double digits below zero, then up to the upper 50s, then back down again.  Our pipes have frozen, we’ve been out in t-shirts, we’ve skidded through the snow, we’ve skirted over miniature icebergs.

I am so incredibly over it.

The other day, I was marveling at the realization that the days are getting longer.  It seemed like a sudden shock because the skies have been so cloudy for so long.  I’m hopeful for the coming spring days and I’m trying to keep it together, but every time I look at the weather report and there’s a chance of snow… ughhhh.

You’re probably not going to want to hear this… but in Southern California, winter has been pretty mild this year. It was 75 yesterday!

Do you have a spare bedroom? A mostly-empty broom closet? An unused portion of driveway? I’d only need to borrow it for another month or so…

        I’ve got a cardboard box. 🙂

Right now house is under construction and not fit for anybody, myself included. But next winter…

I am also not a winter girl, Vancouver Island winters are wet, grey and cold with occasional bits of snow that quickly turn to grey slush and then more rain. I am so ready for winter to be over. I am an artist and winter sucks the creative life out of me.

Oof. I can’t even imagine slogging through a winter like this and trying to be consistently -inspired- or -productive-. Bless you!
Has your winter been unusually… wintery? It’s been awful in the vertical middle of the US.
