Style Post: Accessories: Autumn in the Wasteland

autumnWhen I think about autumn, I always think about accessoires. I also think of survival.

In Kentucky, autumn means the hunters come out of the woodworks. Their gear is chosen to keep them warm and hidden in their deer blinds. And their focus on efficiency is something we can all learn from; nobody wants to dig through a deep bag searching for their keys when the cold wind is whipping up.

Echo Design Scotland Plaid Woven Wrap ($19.99) – The coming winter always makes me think of plaids and warm scarves.

Interstate Leather Fingerless Gloves ($6.99-$8.99) – These small gloves are cheap, so they probably wouldn’t make it through your wasteland wanderings for long, but they’re probably perfect for slipping on before you hit the streets.

New Russian Aviator Pilot Military Sports Wrist Watch ($12.59) – Two watch faces set this watch apart from the rest.

Carhartt Long Neck Wallet ($29.99) – Dual-tone leather gives this a nice autumn look while a bottle opener offers it a little extra function.

Refresh Women’s Combat-Style Lace Up Bootie ($13.99-$69.99) – This layered look will fit right in with all your autumn knits, and will carry you right through winter.

Leegoal Canvas Mini Crossbody Pack ($8.39) – This is a very small pack for carrying just the essentials.

Sterling Silver Ring with Screw Head Design ($41.39) – If you’re going to accessorize, make sure it carries on the spirit of your outfit.

Thick Slouchy Knit Oversized Beanie ($8.50) – Keep your dome toasty, wherever you may roam. This alternating knit pattern makes it warm and stylish.

  1. Um wow, this is gorgeous. I need those fingerless gloves. And I would wear them while I sing “everyone was wearing fingerless gloves” from Boombox.

    1. Please don’t touch the boiled goose.

  2. That watch! It reminds me of the “moon phase” watches that were popular in the late eighties/early nineties. ( You’re probably too young to remember this Dootsie. ) I swear those boots were popular at the same time!
I can’t remember if you knit or not. I think you said you do? You should make that hat! ( I should make that hat!)

    1. My mom had (probably still has) one of those watches! I love them. And my mom DEFINITELY still has a few pairs of these boots. HA! I’ve never been a fan of wearing boots OR watches, so there’s that…
I do knit, but I am SO BAD at getting a consistent gauge. Sometimes I can make hats that fit me, but generally, it just ends up all wrong. The first hat I made was actually my first time knitting in the round. It was supposed to be plain stockinette, but I kept putting the work down, then knitting backwards, so I accidentally made those bands across my hat. XD
