Walmart Box: Winter 2015

walmarI continue to love the Wal-Mart box!

The sample sizes are big enough to be a real treat. I know my expectations of this box are significantly lower than of the other subscriptions I’ve tried, but I owe that to the fact that Wal-Mart never tried to ratchet up my expectations. This month? I was super pleased. I was a little surprised that they didn’t aim more at the gift-giving angle, but this was a good month for me.

Goody SlideProof Elastics (full size!) – Okay, I was so jazzed about these. They have little grippies that remind me of my early aughts tweenhood. My hair is just short enough to gather into a low ponytail. I don’t feel like these elastics do much to hold my shorter hair in the band, but I can tell that the band doesn’t budge where it’s set.

nspa Coconut Rich Body Butter (1.7 oz) – This smells very coconutty in the tub, but when I rub it on, the scent almost entirely disappears. For me, that’s actually a win, but I feel like that would be a disappointment for most other humans. It promises “vitamins for your skin”. but on a fast pass-through, the main ingredients aren’t too special compared to other lotions. I don’t see anything coconutty in the ingredients–though there are a LOT of ingredients in there. It feels okay, a tad on the greasy side.

Pantene Hairspray extra strong hold (1 oz.) – I’m always happy to get hairspray samples because I use so precious little of the stuff. This smells very faintly of fragrance. This doesn’t feel terribly sticky, but I haven’t gotten a chance to do a bit updo.

Pure Silk Shave Cream in Raspberry Mist (2.25 oz) – I love this shave cream, and I’ve actually used it in the past. It smells sweet without being overwhelming.

Dial 7-Day Moisturizing Lotion Omega Moisture (0.5 oz) – This smells like tangerine. It takes a while to dry, but feel like moisture–not greasy or heavy, just kind of wet and supple.

Ken Paves You Are Beautiful Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner for Fine Hair (packets) – I haven’t gotten to try this, but I’ve been told its smell is “natural spa”, whatever that means. I’ve been putting off using it because… uh, for fine hair? YEAH that’s not me. [Update: This smells like a drum circle. While applying it, my hair actually felt stiff. Today, my hair is really shiny, but definitely BIG. The ends feel dry. It’s weird.]

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser in White Tea (0.5 oz) – Waaaaait a minute. This is a repeat from the last box! I’m not sure why, but I’m actually quite glad. It feels really nice on. I’m not sure if it’s doing wonders for my skin, but it seems to be very gentle and it’s a no-fuss application. I just use it in the shower.

Centrum Vitamints (2 chewables) – So these are a bit different. It’s all the fun of taking Tums, but with a weird, vitamin capsule taste at the end. Yum-o! You’re supposed to chew two a day. I don’t love mints and I don’t love these. It’s a good concept, but not for me. A cool sample to try, though!

J by Jennifer Anniston (packet sample) – I hate fragrances, so pass. Comes with a $3 off coupon.

Olay Tone Perfecting Cream Moisturizer (packet sample) – Neat, but I don’t understand a sample of a product that has to be used over time. Comes with a $3 off coupon.

Covergirl – Product brochure for their Star Wars makeup, and a $3 off two eye products coupon.
